Old housing and a lot of multi-family buildings

Manchester's housing is among the oldest of any city we cover: the median home was built in 1966 and almost a third of homes date from before 1940. Many of those are wood-frame multi-family buildings from the mill era.
More than half of homes are rented, so a lot of painting is done for landlords between tenants, or on exteriors of buildings where tenants are living. Pre-1978 rentals are covered by federal lead-safe rules when paint is disturbed.
